Vern William Young of Peterson, Utah, Passed away peacefully on January 8, 2018, at the age of 89. He was surrounded by family and loved ones.

Born in Davis County, Utah, October 25, 1928, to John L. Young and Geneve Burnett. Vern was raised in Morgan County, Utah. He attended Morgan schools and graduated from Morgan High School. He was chosen as an All State football player. He later played for Weber college as a Tackle. He was drafted into the Korean war, and was stationed in what is now North Korea.

As a young man, Vern worked at the cement plant at Devil Slide. After returning from military service, he began work at Hill Air Force Base as an electrician, and later retired from there. He had a love for farming and the outdoors. He loved horses, particularly his horse, Scooter, which he trained. He also had a deep love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He was an active and devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as the Elders Quorum president seven times, ward clerk and teacher, along with many other callings. He served as a faithful home teacher, and looked for any opportunity to serve his neighbors.

In 1964, he married Eunice Stromberg, in the Logan Temple. She survives him along with their three children: Jeff Young (Kitty) of Castle Rock, Summit County, Colorado; Jelene Robison (Mike) of Salem, Utah; and Joanne Robison (Brain) of Las Vegas, Nevada. Also Surviving are four daughters from a previous marriage: Marcie Bott (Lamar) of Eden, Utah; Kay Peterson (Rex) of Ogden, Utah; Tammy Wallerstein of Washington, Utah; Teri Downey (Mark) of Ogden, Utah. Vern is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; five siblings and a grandson.

Viewings will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Walker Mortuary at 45 West 200 North, Morgan, Utah, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the church from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the West Morgan Stake Center at 1 p.m.
